We don't have to experience turbulence only in an airplane

We don't have to experience turbulence only in an airplane

Reading time: 6 minutes

Last time, I told you about an experience that triggered my fear of flying.

However, turbulence is something we don’t only have to experience on a plane. Losing a job, long-term relationship breakdowns, health issues... life offers a broad spectrum of turbulent situations.

How do we keep a cool head and peace of mind in these moments?

Get inspired by my tips that I have written for you below. 👇

4 tips that I personally use (not only) during life's turbulence

1. Hold on to the armrest

During turbulence, it's important to give your brain an impulse that you're holding on. Whether it’s your partner's hand, your daughter’s hand, or a cold armrest, you're holding on tight.

In life's turbulences, it’s mostly about a friend's hand, a mate, parents, or even a wonderful neighbor—let’s hold on!

2. Breathe following the 5-3-7 pattern

This is how it looks in practice:

inhale for 5 seconds, then hold your breath for 3 seconds, and finally exhale continuously for 7 seconds, repeat.

The longer exhale brings us calmness. I repeat this exercise only as long as I feel trembling inside. As soon as warmth and calm start to spread through my body, I begin to breathe naturally again.

In life's turbulence, it’s good, before crafting a rescue plan, to calm the body, mind, and soul and literally breathe through the situation.

3. I believe

I believe that the Universe has prepared a beautiful future for me. I trust that these turbulences are just leading me to where I need to be, and I believe I am being looked after.

This belief greatly helps me on the plane. And honestly, during severe turbulence, the entire plane suddenly starts praying.

So why not use our faith in the future, life, and higher power during life's difficulties?

Let’s believe these are just bumps on our road. Let’s believe we will overcome them and make great strides forward.

4. I praise myself

I praise myself for getting back on a plane despite the vivid memory of previous turbulent flights.

I praise myself for my courage, endurance, and mental focus. I commend myself for my relative calmness.

I praise myself for the various energy crutches I constantly create and test.

And during life’s turbulences, let’s also praise ourselves!

We manage to express our emotions, share our situation, ask for help, or continue ensuring the basic needs of ourselves and those who depend on us.

Let’s be proud of ourselves even in tough times.

Traveling as a form of self-development

What about you? What other tools help you during turbulence?

TRAVELING AS A FORM OF SELF-DEVELOPMENT on Wednesday July 17th at 7:00 PMyou can register for it now.

You will also have the chance to ask me about our family’s vacation to Brazil this year, because traveling with kids is a learning experience in itself.

There will be a recording available for those registered, so don’t hesitate, register as soon as possible. I’m really looking forward to seeing you all!

I wish you a summer without turbulence! ☀️
